PHC Chairman, Edrees: Privatization Holding Company is a Kuwaiti Shareholding Company listed at the Kuwait Stock Exchange; with a paid up capital of KD 79.3 Million and investments valued at KD 120 Million (2008).The inauguration of SNC-Lavalin Kuwait to execute projects in the Energy, Water, Oil & Gas sectors in addition to industrial, utility and infrastructure projects.

Privatization Holding Company announced its partnership with SNC-Lavalin International - who is amongst the world leaders in Engineering and Construction- through the inauguration of a new company in Kuwait. On this occasion, the Chairman of Privatization Holding Company, Mr. Riadh Edrees indicated that the inauguration of (SNC-Lavalin Kuwait) embodies the strong synergy between the two companies derived from their unique expertise in the engineering and construction field, and in developing, financing, constructing and operating projects in the energy, water, waste water, industrial and infrastructure sectors.
Edrees added that SNC-Lavalin Kuwait will , in addition to its oil & gas project work, undoubtedly expand its activities to target the energy, water, waste water and infrastructure projects envisioned in Kuwait’s Five Year Strategic Plan.
Edrees noted that SNC-Lavalin Kuwait will be a key partner in privatization projects in Kuwait, the GCC and MENA through project development, financing, constructing, operating and maintaining BOT projects in the development sectors.
On his part, Mr. Riadh Ben Aissa, EVP and President (Construction) of SNC-Lavalin, stated that through its company in Kuwait, SNC-Lavalin will actively participate in investment projects and in focusing on developing and executing infrastructure projects in Kuwait. Ben Aissa added that this event beckons a new era in its strategy to establish strong roots in Kuwait and be an active partner in its economic development. Ben Aissa outlined that the company was keen to expand its project activity in Kuwait after it had established many such activities throughout the Middle East particularly in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Ben Aissa noted that the company has already completed a Gas Field project for KOC, and intends to compete in other upcoming such tenders in addition to electro-mechanical works for KOC, KNPC, MEW and MPW. He added that the company will also focus in providing its expertise in executing infrastructure , power, water projects in addition to the Oil & Gas sector activities.
Ben Aissa indicated that SNC-Lavalin is amongst the largest Engineering & Construction companies in Canada and the world and plays an important role in the operation and maintenance of infrastructure projects and is among the companies listed in the Toronto Stock Exchange, noting that it will celebrate its 100th Anniversary. Ben Aissa added that the company is among the largest of such companies that have been awarded infrastructure concession projects in the MENA region, as the company has established a 120,000 cbm/day desalination plant in Myah Tipaza and a 1227 MW gas power plant in Hadjret El-Nouss , in Algeria. Ben Aissa noted that the company is looking forward to investing in Kuwait, the GCC and MENA through its history of strong corporate governance, a flexible business model, a solid financial position, transparency of information, and a commitment to health and safety , to a sustainable environment, and the quality of work .
